With a degree in civil engineering and an early career in the British army, followed by an MBA and commercial success in sales of process technologies in both the USA and the UK, James has been at the head of the ERG group since 2001. James has a strong emphasis on industrial sales and guides the Group’s overall strategy with passion, growing the company in the UK and internationally. He moved to the role of chairman and business development director in 2025 after more than two decades as group managing director.

Richard studied Chemical Engineering at Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. He has spent his entire career in environmental and process engineering and has been with ERG for over 25 years, including in proposals and process engineering, engineering and operations management, and as Projects managing director since 2013. Richard became Group MD in 2025. Richard also established ERG’s Middle East office and built the core team in Jordan.

Prior to joining ERG in 2015, Peter had 25 years’ experience of positions at Board and senior management level in Commercial Management, Business Development, Financial Management, Sales and Strategic Business planning. Peter has worked in Process Engineering, Construction, Defence, Government and Oil and Gas/Energy Sector markets for private ownership companies. Peter studied Environmental Science at Plymouth University and is a Member of IMAREST. In his current role, Pete oversees all ERG’s commercial, financial and HR activities.

Ed brings considerable industrial knowledge and enthusiastic drive to his role, leading the industrial sales team. Prior to joining ERG’s senior team in 2016, Ed had 15 years’ experience of designing, installing and commissioning process plant equipment, and managing capital engineering projects in the pharmaceuticals, energy, renewables and utilities sectors. He is a chartered member of IChemE and a chemical engineering graduate of UMIST.

With over 20 years of financial and accounting experience, 7 of which at board level, James brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ERG. In addition, James has a proven track record in delivering process and procedural changes, having successfully managed the development and implementation of accounting and job costing ERP systems for two businesses within the construction sector. James is a fellow member of the Association for Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA) and has an Honours Degree in Accountancy Studies

Arthur holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Leeds University and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIMechE). Arthur has experience in multiple engineering sectors – Medical, Automotive & Aerospace and he has developed expertise in Pressure & GRP Vessel, Structural Steel and Thermal Systems Design. Since joining ERG full-time in 2021, Arthur has made significant contributions to the company’s success. He began as a Mechanical Engineer and was promoted to Mechanical Engineering Manager in 2023. In his current role, Arthur leads a team of engineers, overseeing critical projects and driving innovation to deliver engineering solutions

Proven at turning strategy into results, with a strong focus on pipeline discipline, operational excellence, and sector-led solutions. Has led both direct and indirect sales teams across water treatment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, industrial manufacturing, and environmental sectors. Known for transforming distributor-led markets into effective direct sales models, improving forecasting and account planning, and embedding structured sales processes. Recognised for building high-performing teams and aligning commercial delivery with wider business objectives.

Nick has over 20 years’ experience in project management with ERG as well as periods with M&E main contractors. He supplements his pragmatic approach to implementing project delivery with a drive for commercial clarity and insists on maintaining the highest H&S standards on site. Nick is a Member of the Association of Project Managers and a Certified Member of IOSH.

Yousif Alshafie

Middle East Regional Director

Yousif studied Industrial Engineering at University of Jordan and is a member of Jordan Engineering Association and Associate Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). He has spent his career in engineering and management and has been with ERG for over 15 years, including in sales and proposals, project engineering, engineering and operations management, as general manager since 2013 and regional director since 2022. Yousif also worked in HVAC systems design, sales, and construction, and in supply chain management for private ownership companies.

Mike has over 35 years fabrication and design experience following an HNC in Mechanical & Production Engineering. He has worked for large Process and Manufacturing/ Production Design companies and has been involved with gas scrubbing systems since 1994. Mike has been with ERG since 2005, initially as a Design Engineer and has progressed through the ranks to his current role of Engineering Director where he leads a strong team of Mechanical Engineers and CAD Designers.

Hamish has a wealth of knowledge and experience of air and water treatment. He studied Chemistry with the OU and went on to further study of Electrical Engineering. Hamish has been with ERG for over 25 years, including commissioning, pilot plant scale treatability studies, proposals, and Electrical Manager. He was head of the Maintenance team for 6 years and his current role is directing our Commissioning and Electrical activities. He has been an ERG director since 2018.

Martin has worked all his career in the Plastic Fabrication industry, including working overseas on a number of projects. Martin joined ERG(PF) in 2013 and has risen through the ranks from Plastic Fabricator up to his current position of General Manager where he oversees the running of the ERG(PF) division.

With over 12 years of experience in the engineering sector, he is a dedicated Technical Leader whose expertise spans electronic, mechanical, control, and instrumentation engineering. Troy is particularly focused on continuous improvement and team development, with a proven track record of implementing process improvements and fostering a culture of learning within his teams. Before joining ERG, Troy held leadership roles in various engineering organisations. His strategic thinking and adaptability ensure he consistently delivers exceptional results, making him a key contributor to ERG.

Chris is a dynamic and experienced marketing strategist with a global outlook and a hands-on approach. With a background spanning sectors from utilities and renewables to technology, he brings a sharp commercial focus to everything from brand positioning and campaign management to digital transformation. At ERG, Chris leads marketing strategy across the group, driving brand development, digital communications, and demand generation. His career includes senior roles with organisations like Veolia and Johnson Controls, where he delivered high-growth marketing programmes and award-winning campaigns. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Industrial Design Engineering, an MBA focussed on Strategy and Marketing, and a PgDip in Digital Marketing, Strategy, Analytics and Media. Chris is passionate about connecting brands with their audiences in meaningful ways, underpinned by data, insight, and creativity.

Rami joined ERG in 2008 as a process and proposals engineer and has been involved with every significant project the Middle East office has carried out, including proposals and detailed engineering. Rami was promoted to technical and proposals manager in 2013 and leads the team of proposals, process, design and CAD engineers. Rami hold a masters degree in Chemical Engineering, is a chartered member of IChemE and a member of the Jordan Engineering Association.

Rachel has a degree in Environmental Management from the University of Surrey and is an IQMS IEMA qualified lead auditor. Prior to joining ERG in 2011, Rachel worked for the Environment Agency and a private company with varying roles including instrumentation officer, service engineer and client account manager. At ERG, Rachel manages our framework contracts and servicing team, ensuring all KPI’s are achieved and sales and project management communications work smoothly.

Since joining ERG in 2012, Maz has gained a reputation for being reliable and enterprising. His current role managing the maintenance projects team combines sales, planning, client communications, and site quality and safety. Maz’s previous experience includes work with industrial pipework installation, and governmental energy and environmental sector work in Saudi Arabia. He is a Prince2 qualified project manager and holds an HND in aerospace engineering.

David has almost 25 years of experience within the odour management and odour abatement sector. Familiar with odour measurement (olfactometry) and odour dispersion modelling, he can assist clients in understanding the nature of their site’s odour issues and recommend suitable systems. He has successful track-record selling solutions into the wastewater, municipal waste, anaerobic digestion, composting, food and drink and industrial sectors. David strongly believes that working collaboratively with clients will always ensure the best outcome.

Brian has 35 years’ experience of practical electrical engineering, working for a variety of construction and manufacturing companies in electrical, instrumentation, commissioning and maintenance roles. His experience includes marine, robotics, HVAC, steel manufacture, brewing, energy and environmental sectors. Brian joined ERG in 2012 as a commissioning engineer and brings significant knowledge of our systems to his electrical engineering management position.

Logan is a dedicated Commercial Manager at ERG PF, where he has built a successful career over the past 12 years since joining in February 2012. With a degree in Accounting & Finance from Brighton University, he has developed strong expertise in financial analysis and project performance management. In 2024, Logan advanced into his current Commercial Management role. He is responsible for producing monthly financial reports across all projects and providing clear insights into how each project is performing, supporting informed decision-making and operational success. A reliable finance professional with a commercial mindset, Logan combines analytical rigour with a practical approach to deliver real value to his projects and team.
