Particulates are commonly part of the problem when treating contaminated gas streams, and effective solids removal is crucial to achieving stack dust limits and reliable plant operation. Where solids are not handled correctly, gas cleaning systems can clog and foul or fail to meet permit conditions. ERG designs and integrates the appropriate particulate capture technology into each gas cleaning package, based on particle size, loading and composition.
There are several different technologies for dust capture, and selecting the right one depends on the size distribution, composition and concentration of the particulates being removed. ERG has wide experience of handling particulates within industrial gas cleaning systems and integrates the correct solids‑removal device into the overall abatement package. In all cases, the design goal is to achieve the required discharge consent while minimising maintenance downtime and operator intervention.
The main particulate capture technologies ERG offers include the following, all supplied as part of complete abatement systems with additional scrubbing stages, fans and solids handling as required.
Particulate removal is rarely the only requirement; most industrial exhausts also contain soluble gases, acid gases, VOCs or odorous compounds. ERG routinely combines particulate capture technologies with wet scrubbing stages (packed towers, V‑tex®, tray towers), quench vessels, sub‑coolers or thermal oxidation as part of a complete air pollution control train.
Systems are engineered to handle the full solids‑handling chain – from capture at the gas phase, through slurry or dry solids handling, to dewatering or disposal – ensuring that dust removal works reliably alongside soluble contaminant scrubbing.
